MP backs biodiesel tax break campaign

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for companies who produce biodiesel.

Producers oil into biodiesel currently gain from a 20p differential however that is due to end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George stated "a variety of little services in Cornwall presently generate income from utilized cooking oil".

He added: "In order to be able to get this kind of industry going it does need just a bit of lift which can be found in the type of tax foregone."

Biodiesel is a mix of traditional diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
